| Advice: |
Avoid impulsively purchasing fish. Do your research prior to introducing a new fish. Quarantine first if possible. Choose less aggressive and more peaceful species. |

| Description: |
Dec 05 - installed new lighting in the Canopy. I have 2 X 30wt blue actinic and 2 X 30wt Aqua Flora Plus and 1 X 30wt Color Intensifier. I played around with a variety of lamps from different manufacturers and the Quantum Aquatics "Lightning Rods" Superlux (only sold at Big Al's) were by far the best lamps. I used regular T8 electronic ballasts (32wt).
Feb 06 update: total re-aquascaping. Removed the old lava rock and went with large basalt stones. In a big tank larger stones look proportionately better.
Enjoy....
Nov 07 update: Gone full circle....went from a mixed hap/peacock/mbuna setup to an all hap/peacock setup and now we are back to a mix again, but "mostly Mbuna" of the mildy aggressive nature and the few peacocks and haps seem to have no problem with it. The key is to use only large rocks and have no caves to keep territorial aggression to a minimum. Plastic plants work for me.
Hope you enjoy it. |

| About Yourself: |
HVAC tech by day, aquarist by night. I started a few years ago with a 10gal tank, and grew from there.
I have many tanks ranging from 10gal-210g.
All of my fish are Malawi cichlids. These fish are gorgeous. Colors of these fish are amazing. People think they are saltwater. |
| Advice: |
Can be an expensive hobby, but doesnt have to be.
Be creative, give your fish thier own little heaven, let them live in tranquility. |

44 Gallon corner pentagon tank. |
| About Yourself: |
I started off with a 29 gallon about 8 years ago, and over the years, I ended up with 7 tanks. I had a 55 gallon saltwater and a 20 gallon with 4 sea horses. I had the pleasure of watching one of my male sea horses give birth, and it was amazing !!! As of today, I am down to a 125 gallon and a 44 gallon corner pentagon freshwater tank. I just love this hobby !!!! |
| Advice: |
Do not add all these fish all at once. Add them slowly. |

| Description: |
I switched to a aquaclear 110 power filter because of the amount of fish that I have in my tank. I have a tall 44 gallon corner pentagon tank, and this filter gives this tank a lot of filtration and water flow. I also have a hydor koralia circulation pump that I placed in the middle of my tank to add more water movement. I use the titaniumtube heater by ViaAqua and it keeps my water temperature stable. For lighting, I use a 15W Aqua-Glo T-8. This light brings out the color in the fish, plants, gravel, and decorations. |

My tropical freshwater tank is a custom made to order kit that I purchased from a company in France called Octopus Studios. As you can see from the picture it is a really wild design that gets a lot of wow's from friends. It measures about a metre cubed/3.3 foot cubed and holds about 230Litres/60gall. The kit is a complete setup that includes highest quality eheim filters/ lighting and aeration. |

| About Yourself: |
I had a South American Cichlid tank in college prior to the emergence of the internet and thereby readily available information. I had no idea what I was doing and it went badly. Since then I have always wanted to do another tank, but this time I had a clue about what I was doing. |

Cycle, Cycle, Cycle
Once your tank is set up chill out with the beverage of your choice and feel your blood pressure lower as you enjoy your tank (great for ignoring commercials as well). |
