About Yourself: I'm a student. This is my first fish tank, and really is not comaprable to the other advaced tanks on this site, but I have had so much fun getting Belle's tank set up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Who knew this could be so fun?!
Advice: Well I am still new at this myself. Lots of reading has helped me out a lot. Take it slow, because I only have a 10 gallon, and when I first started I still felt overwhelmed at times. I have also asked a lot of questions...people who love this hobby are so willing to give helpful advice!
Fish Kept: Belle- she is a fantail goldfish
Plants Kept: just fake plants from petsmart, and other small decorations
Tank Size: 10
Description: 10 gallon starter kit. It's glass, it came with a filter, and I got a buble bar and air pump seperate. I don't really think the buble bar is needed, but Belle really enjoys swimming thru the bubbles....

Quote: none
About Yourself: I started out with just goldfish until a friend of mine got an oscar and then I was hooked when I saw that you could feed them worms and shrimp and grasshoppers and that they actually have some personality. My name is Chelsey and I am 22, I live in British Columbia Canada, and I have had my oscars for about 5 months now they are my favorite.
Advice: I always hear about people not sure of what to use for the substrate, sand is good and so are rocks but for me personally I use marbles..they are so easy to clean and my fish can move them and pick food from between them very easily. Also when I use my fish vacuum the marbles move really easy out of the way and I never have to replace anything.
Fish Kept: I first wanted to say that I have 4 oscars and I am well aware that they need bigger tanks than the ones I have now, but aquariums are expensive so down the road I will be able to put them in bigger tanks. So the fish I have in the 10 gallon are 2 angel fish, 3 tiger barbs(yeah I know they shouldn't be together but all is well for now) and 2 aqautic frogs and 2 little sucker fish. In my 20 gallon I have a lemon oscar and a lutino oscar (they might be a pair I am hoping) and one danio he is too fast to be eaten and a pleco. And lastly in the 30 gallon I have way to many fish living in there together but I will be getting a new tank soon so in there is a red oscar and another lutino oscar, a gold severum, a snowwhite cichlid, a chinese algae eater and 2 plecos.
Plants Kept: I do not keep real plants cause I know that my oscars will destroy them, I just use fake ones, I have some that glow in the dark, but really that does not do anything for the fish...my husband thought they were cool.
Tank Size: 30
Description: I can't remember exact dimensions of the tank. They are all an aqua-tech tank and it came with all the supplies I needed. For now I have a 10, 20, and 30 gallon tanks.

My 38 Gallon Fish Tank, 6 Tiger Barbs, 2 Green Tiger Barbs, One White Cloud Minnow, and a Gold Chinese Algae Eater. I'm using a Marineland C-Series Multi Stage Canister Filter C-220, the best fiter out there. I personaly think this filter is better then the Eheim, because it allows no bypass, it forces the water through the filter media trays and not around them, all the other canisters allow 40% to 60%

About Yourself: Some very nice men in white coats came and said they wanted to show me my new padded room.
Advice: Don't ever TRUST PETCO people! They don't know Sh*t! Bunch of dumb kids work there. One guy at the fish department told me it was okay to use the drops for alges, and fin rots and it killed 7 of my fish except for my betta he was the only one that survived....Do the research online on the fish before buying and don't listen to what the petco people say about what's the amount of drops to use, read it and put alittle less then what it tells you to put.
