55 Gallon Lake Malawi tank. I built the rock structure out of PVC pipe, rock, aquarium silicone, hot glue, gravel and plants. There is rock and gravel surrounding the structure, fading into white sand on the other side of the tank. The population consists of 1 Large male ice blue zebra, 3 females, 5 female bumblebee cichlid (we have a large male on his way in two weeks). There are also 2 upsidedown catfish, 3 various colored cory cats, 2 plecostemous, a chocolate, and a sailfinned marbled (one will go into the next tank, I got a great bargain on the chocolate recently), and two red clawed crabs.

| About Yourself: |
I am a 38 year old mother of three, who thinks chihuahua's are better than teenagers. I love my fishtanks also. |
| Advice: |
Research, plan, execute. I spent two months researching the fish I wanted to keep. Once I knew what I wanted to populate the tank with, what their requirements were and who they'd get along with I began planning the inside of the tank. I have slowly stocked my tank adding at most 4 fish at a time. |

| About Yourself: |
I've got my first 10 gallon fish tank when I was in 5th grade. And, i've been hooked ever since. I gave away my fish tanks but alway have gotten another one. My living space doesn't feel complete without one. |
| Advice: |
When starting a new aquarium, remember to do 50 percent water changes every week for the first 4-8 weeks (depending on tank size). This will get you safely through the nitrogen cycle without killing your fish. Only add a few hardy fish for the first 4-8 weeks then get your water tested then you can add your fish slowly. The key to a healthy fish tank is weekly water changes of 30 percent and monthly gravel cleaning with sifone and not overcrowding your tank. I have found that when keeping tropical fish it is best to keep the temperature at 82 degrees. This helps prevent the fish from getting ick. Also, add freshwater aquarium salt and provide plenty of aeration. My marbel angle fish out grew my 29 G so they went back to the pet store where i got them. the guy said angels perfer about a 55G tank.So keep this in mind when buying an anglefish, they also become very aggresive when they git biger but after all they are Cichlids. |
