Keen to hear anyones thoughts on my set up, LIKES DISLIKES SUGGESTIONS ect
Advice: New at this (First Tank) so STILL LEARNING - READ READ READ!!! ALSO Use sites such as this for info and tips on set ups ect VERY HELPFUL Decide on the type of fish you want first then plan from there. Be patient with your set up. FILTRATION IS KEY and KNOW THE NITROGEN CYLCE Clean Decor and substrate thoroughly Choose the correct Fish not just anything in stock at the moment. Quote: If at First You Don't Succeed - Don't Look So Astonished!
About Yourself: I am a 40 year old father of 2 great children. Chelsea is 2 and Hunter is 4. My wife is great and is pretty patient with me when I take 5 hours on a Sunday to "work" on the tank. She's not really into the fish but I think she may be coming around - she loves to see the kids excited! My little ones love the fish and are great helpers. By day I am an operations manager for a fortune 100 company managing customer service operator working from home. We provide a full array of services for various clients. It's a stressful job but when I come home and spend a little time with my fish, the stress of the day goes away for awhile - heck I don't even hear my Blackberry which in itself is a true gift.
Advice: Start with the tank you really want - if you have space for 90 Gallon and that's what you want - Go For It. Moving from a 10 to a 30 to a 55 and so on will cost you more than just getting what you want from the beginning. Take your time selecting fish and be patient if you go with cichlids. To me the best part of the hobby is watching them mature and change colors over time. It's amazing how a brown dull young peacock can be so beautiful when it matures. Change your filters regularly, do routine water changes, feed them a good quality food and you will have happy and healthy fish.

The Blue Jahanni is a camera hog everytime we took a pic he was in it. The rocks on the bottom where the transcriptus is, is where all the babies hide (really cute at feeding time). And the Sonadontus hides behind all the rocks at the back only popping his head out at night or when it is feeding. (PLEASE FORGIVE THE NAME BEING SPELT INCORRECTLY)

About Yourself: Scott and I are avid fish enthusiasts. We have 7 tanks all up. What should be our pride and joy however is still in the process of being repaired. A custom 6x2x2.5 foot tank the support bracing was not strong enough and was bowing out when completely full so at the moment it is half full and not looking good at present. It will be in time where we will keep our cichlids. What started out as a second hand tank given to us 3 years ago has now taken over our life, our home and our wallet. As anyone knows who is addicted.
Advice: Change the water regularly, dont overfeed and enjoy
Fish Kept: 1 Blue Jahani, 2 Electric Yellows, 2 Lupias, 1 breeding pair of Transcriptus with approx 20 babies, 2 (soon to be more) Trophus Bemba, 1 Syondotus Eruptus, 2 Princess Daffodils, 2 Albino Algae Eaters, 1 male Bristle Nose, 1 Red Emperor, 1 unknown nickname is Blue Opaline. Just about all the fish are either babies or Juvies and cant wait till they get bigger and their colors start to show more.
Plants Kept: mass of Java Moss and 2 Anubias attached to driftwood.
Tank Size: 45
Description: tank dimensions are 2.5x2x1.5 Trickle system
