About Yourself: 17 years in this crazy hobby. Still loveing it! I think Keeping fish tanks is not just a hobby its a art form . Here is a link to my other older fish tanks- http://www.ratemyfishtank.com/friendemail.php/9061
Advice: Patience Don't rush anything, Find a fish dealer you can trust. Clean your fish tank every week! Take out 10-30% of the water. Even if your tank looks clean still doit!! Everyday B 4 you feed your fish look and see how healthy they are doing. Never use more meds for your fish tank then the box says to. becareful for plant tanks not to use more Co2 / Carbon dioxide then needed. It can cuz the fish stress due to low air.For salt tanks keep the salt levels right never ever let it go low. this will keep the fish more healthy. Dont mix fish that have diff needs or temperments. Read,Read and read more. All liveing things have the right to a healthy life. be good to your pets!

About Yourself: My husband is the one that always wanted an aquarium, so I grudgingly agreed that we buy a small one...on the condition that he's in charge of it! After a couple of months I was just crazy about our fish, and we upgraded to this 55 gallon mixed mbuna tank. Now I just love researching, aquascaping and keeping busy with my cichlids!
Advice: Be an educated consumer. Research and ask lots of questions before purchasing...

55 Gallon Lake Malawi Mbuna Set-up. This is my favorite tank to watch! Rocks are Lava Rock, and a couple big river rocks underneath for stability. I have black PVC “caves” under all the rocks and two pieces hanging at the back corners as hideouts for females. There are also a couple fake plants for color. Substrate is play sand. I add an African Cichlid buffer with each water change to keep the pH at a steady 8.2. Fish are: Electric Yellow Labs (Labidochromis Caeruleus), Red Zebras (Metriaclima Estherae), Pseudotropheus Yellow Tail Acei, Ice Blue (Metriaclima Greshakei), Labidochromis Hongi, and a Rainbow Shark. African Mbuna will thrive and be happy with the right set-up: a high pH, a lot of rocks and caves and all fish at similar aggression levels. When they are happy they do not hide, they are constantly busy and will spawn all the time.

About Yourself: My son gave me a 20 gallon tank 2 years ago and that grew into a 55 gallon Lake Malawi Mbuna set-up, and a 30 gallon planted community set-up and 2 fry tanks. I really enjoy watching the interactions and parenting behaviors of my fish.
Advice: Read all you can about a type of fish you are thinking about. Do your research first!! Don't just buy on impulse, you may very well regret it. ALWAYS remember, those small fish you bring home will grow up someday, so take that into account. Use adult size when filling a tank, not the size they are right from the store. No, you cannot keep community fish with African cichlids! They may all get along now, but when the cichlids reach maturity they WILL kill off the community fish!

About Yourself: I've been in the hobby for over 20 years. My grandfather gave me my first tank as a pre-teen, and i've been hooked ever since. I would love to have giant tanks everywhere, if I could. My love for the Angelfish has grown over the years, and I say, why not always have angels in the house?
Advice: Read about the species before you buy. When stocking a community tank, peaceful fish go in first and the most aggressive species should go in last.
Fish Kept: Top Bunch: 7 Angelfish, 1 Gold Gourami, 1 Opaline Gourami, 2 White Cloud Minnows, and 8 Serpae Tetras, Ground Crew: 3 Clown Loaches, 2 Spotted Rafael Catfish, 1 Bumlbebee Catfish, 1 Red-tailed Shark and 1 Pleco
Plants Kept: Tetra Water Wonder Artificial Plants with resin rock base. And a few cheaper plastic plants. The yellow flowers around the right piece of wood are now algae covered and the same happend to the orange flowers behind the left driftwood. Time to get in there and clean them up I guess.
Tank Size: 65
Description: 65 gallon acrylic tank 48"x13"x24"Tall. Eheim External Filter. Rocks, Driftwood and Artificial Plants
