150 gallon freshwater tank with mixture of parrots and cichlids |
| About Yourself: |
Well I started with goldfish as most of us do I suppose. From there each tank got a little bigger and more expensive. But I love just kicking back watching fish after work, theres nothing more relaxing.. |
| Advice: |
Filtration is the key to happiness. Spend as much money as you can on the filter, so you can spend less time cleaning your tank. |
| Fish Kept: |
3 parrot cichlids, 10 assorted african cichlids, 2 rosey barbs, 1 catfish for cleaning purposes |
| Plants Kept: |
All Fake plastic plants |

| Description: |
150 gal. freshwater tank. Rena XP4 canister filter cranking 450gph. Rena 400 air pump running two 18inch airstones on each side and a 12inch, 6 LED moonlight airstone combo in the middle. Plants are all fake. My wife found them at a craft store for a 1/4 of the price you pay at a fish store, and they look way more realistic. All the rock in the tank is real though. Most of it I aquired from the creek by my house. The lights are just standard aquarium lights. My next project is to build a canopy with LED lights built into it. |

I have a 4 tanks but my favorite is my mixed peacock tank which is a 60 gallon acrylic S&S tank that I bought used for 50 bucks. It contains well over 80 pounds of lace rock and a few fake plants along with a few collected shells. Its is filtered by a Rena XP3 and a Penguin 400. I also have a 12 inch air stone buried under the rocks. Substrate is a mix of several pebble sizes (mostly river rock) and crushed coral. Lighting is from a 48 inch single tube stripe with a 20,000 K. Heat comes from a 200 watt aqueon heater. |
