My 72g Bow Aquarium |
| About Yourself: |
My occupation is a Corrections Officer(prison guard). I always had some kind of fish tank for about 5-6 years now, always found them relaxing. |
| Advice: |
25% Water Changes every week.
Be patient about new tanks. Buy the biggest one you can afford. You can add fish to a new fish tank after 24hrs. Just not alot, have to wait until bacteria starts growing. Do reserach on fish that you want to get. Dont ever listen to Petsmart. Here are some websites for fish info.

My 55 Gallon Cichlid Community |

"I will make you fishers of men" |
| About Yourself: |
First and foremost I'm a dedicated believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Beyond that I'm a Construction Worker by day and a Web Designer by night. After a long day of hard labor there is nothing more relaxing than planting myself in front of my aquarium and shedding the stress of the day. |
| Advice: |
My advice to any beginner is to start small and aim big. A larger size tank can be quite a commitment. If a beginner jumps right into a larger size tank they can easily find themselves overwhelmed by the time and effort it takes to maintain a good healty environment for their fish to thrive.
Don't sweat loosing fish, it happens to all of us no matter what the experience level.
Most importantly have fun. It's just a hobby, if it gets too serious it's time to get out. |
| Fish Kept: |
I have 3 different varieties of Peacock Cichlids - 1 Red Zebra Cichlid - 1 Electric Blue Cichlid - 1 Green Terror Cichlid - 1 Electric Yellow Cichlid - 1 Big Lipped Cichlid - one Albino Cichlid and 3 Cichlids whos species origin is yet to be identified.
I also have one Dinosaur Birch who my Cichlids seem to leave alone and two very small plecostomus but one of them I'm growing for another tank tht is still cycling. |
| Plants Kept: |
A variety of different artificial plants.
I plan to gradually replace all of my artificial plants with live ones but seen as how this tank is only a few months old I havent gotton to that point yet. |
| Tank Size: |
55 |
| Description: |
Im Using an All Glass 55 Gallon aquarium with the demensions of 48" Length, 12 1/2" Depth and 18" High. I'm using a ProQuatics canister filter 2400 with a Fluval 304 canaster filter for backup and even though this combo is slightly overkill it keeps the tank very clean for a healthy Cichlid habitat.
For lighting I'm using a 48" 1219 mm Reef Sun 50/50 florescent lamp by Zoo Med Aquatics.
For superior airation and circulation I'm using twin power heads.
Heating is provided by a 200 W submersible heater. |

| About Yourself: |
Loved aquariums since I was too young to have one. Had them when I was 11 years old till about 14, then stoped keeping fish for a while. Now in the past year or so started to get back into them again. I really enjoy this hobby and find it very relaxing. Go here if you want to see video of my tanks |

Do your research, and keep your water clean. |

The Blue Jahanni is a camera hog everytime we took a pic he was in it. The rocks on the bottom where the transcriptus is, is where all the babies hide (really cute at feeding time). And the Sonadontus hides behind all the rocks at the back only popping his head out at night or when it is feeding. (PLEASE FORGIVE THE NAME BEING SPELT INCORRECTLY) |

| About Yourself: |
Scott and I are avid fish enthusiasts. We have 7 tanks all up. What should be our pride and joy however is still in the process of being repaired. A custom 6x2x2.5 foot tank the support bracing was not strong enough and was bowing out when completely full so at the moment it is half full and not looking good at present. It will be in time where we will keep our cichlids.
What started out as a second hand tank given to us 3 years ago has now taken over our life, our home and our wallet. As anyone knows who is addicted.
|
| Advice: |
Change the water regularly, dont overfeed and enjoy |
| Fish Kept: |
1 Blue Jahani, 2 Electric Yellows, 2 Lupias, 1 breeding pair of Transcriptus with approx 20 babies, 2 (soon to be more) Trophus Bemba, 1 Syondotus Eruptus, 2 Princess Daffodils, 2 Albino Algae Eaters, 1 male Bristle Nose, 1 Red Emperor, 1 unknown nickname is Blue Opaline.
Just about all the fish are either babies or Juvies and cant wait till they get bigger and their colors start to show more. |
