110 Gal tank sits in my living room. I got it for a steal on Criagslist. It is 5' long and the highlight of my room. I have both a blue and white light but typically only have the white on. |

Most of us ask for advice when we know the answer but we want a different one. |
| About Yourself: |
I have five tanks - one of which is at work and is used to help calm upset kids. It also allows me relaxation moments as I look up to view my fish. |
| Advice: |
Check compatibility before you buy fish. Do your water changes so you won't have to wake up and find floating fish. And have fun with the hobby.
Also, visit local nurseries for landscape rock. Much cheaper than specialty stores. Just clean before adding to tank. |
| Fish Kept: |
Mostly Malawi Cichlids with a few river fish thrown in. Yoyo loach does quite well - almost too aggressive when cichlids were young. |

Keeping it all natural. |
| About Yourself: |
I work shift work at a refinery. The fish are relaxing to watch and enjoy after the work day is done. |
| Advice: |
Try not to buy entire put together kits when buying an aquarium as the componets are generally poor quality. Buy your tank separtely and upgrade in better equipment.
When going with african cichlids purchase your peacock cichlids, cats & algae eaters first and later after a couple months add your more aggresive mbuna. The mbuna may not attack the established fish in your tank but they will be very aggressive or kill new fish. Learned the hard way. |

-60 Gallon Malawi Mixed Mbuna Aquarium-
I just moved up to a 60 gallon from a 20L less than a month ago. Switched from gravel to pool filter sand. I got 2 AC powerheads, 2 tetra whisper ex70's. I just use a 100watt topfin heater and keeps it at a steady 79 degrees. Aqua Glo+Moonlight lighting.
Video of my tank on youtube. click high quality!

| Advice: |
There's no such thing as overfiltering :).
Do water changes at least once a week. They loveeee fresh water
If your cichlids are always hiding and not very sociable, then add a few more. It'll make them less shy and more social.
Cichlids love cucumber's and zucchini's!
Good luck :) |

| About Yourself: |
I have been keeping fish for more then 20 years - never tried salt water. I love to spend time watching the habits of my fish - it is very fun to watch them inter-act with each other.
Never give up on your fish - they seem to have 9 lives.
|
| Advice: |
Change water at least 2 times a month, purchase a LARGE filter if you plan on having alot of fish. Compare fish types BEFORE purchasing SOME fish do not get along |

125 gallon cichlid tank |
| About Yourself: |
I am currently a college student and own a lawn care business. I have been in the hobby now for probably 12 years. I started with a 10 gallon tank when I was younger; however I got rid of it shortly after. Then a few years later I bought a 55 gallon tank (presently converting it to saltwater) and in 2006, I bought the 125 gallon tank my freshmen year of college. |
| Advice: |
Take your time, and learn as much as you can before jumping in to the hobby. |
