| About Yourself: |
I like having a fish tank, it's almost an addiction for me. I have to stop by a fish store almost every time I pass one. I also am a photographer, so taking pictures of my fish is a challenge that can be worth it in the end... |
| Advice: |
Start out with something small and simple. Then slowly work to something bigger. My first tank was a one gallon hex over twenty years ago, and I started with zebra danios and gold fish |
| Fish Kept: |
one Angelfish, two red paradised gouramis, two zebra danios, three leopard danios, two scissortail rasboras, one featherfin synodontis, one julli cory, one farlowella catfish, one whiptail catfish, one bumblebee catfish, three otocinclus catfish, one marble loach, one black kuhli loach, one bolivian ram |

This is Finley, my beautiful 2.5" Crowntail Male Betta. He's very friendly and active. Little guy is always swimming and showing off.
Update: He unexpectedly died about 2 months after this picture was taken, looks like it might have been a tumor. He was great, and this pic reached #2 overall. He's famous. :) |

| About Yourself: |
I live in Southern California and am a psychotherapist. I'm passionate about animal welfare, my work, golf, my 4 dogs and 5 cats, and now my fish. But not in that order!
I don't remember why I got my first Betta about 3 years ago, but that got me hooked on having at least one Betta nearby. In recently learning that keeping Bettas in vases is actually cruel, I was exposed to the fish/aquarium hobby, fell in love with it, and got a real tank. Now I can't keep my arm out of it or my eyes off it. |
| Advice: |
Start slowly, buy the biggest tank you can properly support (weight/dimension wise) in your home, thoroughly research the fish's wants/needs before you buy them, and consider fishless cycling as a humane option. |
| Fish Kept: |

20 gallon tank: 1 Red-Tailed Shark and 3 Leopard Corycats.

Hex 5 gallon: one male Veil Tail Betta (Marvin).
6.6 gallon long: one male Crown Tail Betta (Bruno), and 2 Otocinclus. Partially planted.

| Plants Kept: |
Nearly all of mine are artificial. I recently started the hobby and I'm not up to keeping live plants. However, I'm trying to grow some Java Moss. My main tank is made to look as natural as possible, it is dense with tall dark green across the back with a smattering of light green, red and yellow, a 36" floater, and a few short or creeper plants up front. This is about the only thing I got right the first time. |
| Tank Size: |
37 |
| Description: |
Main tank is a Perfecto 37 gallon glass bow front, 30L x 20H x 13D, 1 Penguin 200 and 1 Penguin 150 both with extra charcoal, heater at 75-77 degrees. Small-sized black gravel. Created February 2008, established May 2008. Typical parameters: pH 8.0-8.2, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 10ppm. |

I'm a fish addict - I need help! LOL =D
|
| Advice: |
Take your time - there is no rush. Study as much as you can on your fish. Not ALL fish can go together. Get the biggest tank you can! Good planning is all worth it in the end. I've had reef, planted and all things in between, cichlids have been the best I've kept. |
