About Yourself: Im only 19 years old but I live in Florida an love the florida keys. I like scuba diving and really feel that the reefs should be preserved. I figured it was time to get my own piece of reef in my home so I could enjoy the beauty every day and show people why it needs to be protected. My goal is to have a full blown reef in the top ten on this site and the nicest 29 gallon reef in the world. Its a challenge..........but im up for it.
Advice: Be PATIENT. Thats why I got into this, to help me with my patients. You rush and you will fail.
Fish Kept: Two clowns, Scooter Blenny, 45 blue leg hermits,10 nas snails, 5turbo snails, 1 fiddler crab.
Corals/Plants Kept: I have a hammer coral, Xenia, several zoos, a mushroom, and there is certainly more to come.
Tank Size: 29
Description: My tank is now 6 months old and had a somewhat established refugium to produce food for my fish. I just upgraded the lighting I am running three 24" vho lights and one NO light. total wattage is 245 watts over a 29 gallon tank. :) It doesnt over heat and I dont have a chiller. I dose every night religiously 2 part Oceans Blend. My sump is home made and fairly simple. Water goes in on the left side of it hits the heater goes over the divider into the refuge area where it is filtered through mangroves/algae/sand/live rock and then it goes under and over a divide to the pump a rio 1700 back to the main tank. I have two 20 watt grow lights over the refuge and they are actually growing coraline algae in the sump. The only equipment I have is my sump really.....I dont run a protein skimmer at the moment......The one I had wasnt pulling anything out because of the mangroves. SO im going to get one of the best made and see if the mangroves are working 100% or if i should keep the skimmer.

Quote: If all i had in life was $1.00 bill, I'd give it to the poor man.
About Yourself: I loved the ocean from the day i was born, saw a coral reef tank at sea world when i was 7 and now im obsessed.
Advice: read, read, read, ask, ask, ask....know how to do it before you buy. plan/design/build/care/become an addict. buy the expensive parts with the best raitings the first time. watch your tank close and prepare to be amazed.
Fish Kept: 1-percula clown, 1-Yellowtail Damsel, 1- Cardinal, 1- Three Striped Damsel, 1-Chocolate Chip Star...I know the star eats corals so i watch him closely and feed him very well.
Corals/Plants Kept: 1-Feather Duster, small polyps, small mushrooms, I only bought the feather duster the others grew on their own. Soon as i purchase this light this tank will be filled with corals.
