Tank size * 5ft x 2ft x 2ft, Sump 5ft x 18" x 21" Octopus HOB skimmer which is now in sump,1 Ehiem 2500 ltr p/h External Canister Filter, 4 - Metal Halides - 150 watt each with 20000k Bulbs, 2 Ehiem 800 ltr p/h internal Power Heads, Fluro T5 bar with Blue Actinic Grow Lights, 2 x 300 watt heaters (one just incase) 1 return pump from sump pumping at a rate of 7500 ltrs p/h. Halides running for 8 hours with the actinics running 1 1/2 hours either side of that. Also middle section of sump is a refugium, with 2 bar fluros for lighting on the oppisite hours to main tank. Caluprea growing in tank for nitrate reduction purposes. |

| Advice: |
start slow,dont rush the beginning for it will play a great part in your water quality.If you are going reef start with soft corals and work your way up.Make sure to develop a routine when it comes to maintainance ,change water regularly at least 30%,get a test kit and use it.Always think water quality ,if the water is not clean and the right levels not maintained your livestock will suffer. |

The bigger and longer the tank the better. Good water flow is a must in order to eliminate dead spots. A deep sand bed (minimum 4") as well as good live rock and a powerfull skimmer can help keep nitrates at 0 PPM, and water changes to a minimum. A properly set up refugium with Macro Algae can also aid with excess nutrients. Read all marine keeping books, especially "The Reef Aquarium" Vol 1, 2, and 3. Last but not least, Dont shy away from this hobby on the first signs of trouble. Marine aquarium keeping gets easier and easier as the tank matures. If trouble arises, internet forums can be of great help when questions need answering. |
