| Description: |
My reef tank is a 180 gallon corner pentagon which has 48" sides and just under 60" across the full face. Lighting is provided by 2 x 400 watt 14K metal halides run on a pfo ballast and 4 x 95 watt VHO bulbs, 2 x actinic blue and 2 x actinic white bulbs running on icecap 600 ballasts. I have a central overflow running to a 35 gallon sump with a precision marine bullet 2 skimmer and a precision marine calcium reactor. The return is a Iwaki 55rlt pump through a 1" sea swirl. For added water movement, I run a closed loop driven by a Dolphin Ampmaster 3000, and a Vortech MP40 pump. All cooled by a Prime 1/3 hp chiller (summer primarily). |

| Advice: |
Take your time before getting into this hobby. Read books and make sure you get the right equipment from the beginning. Knowledge will save you a lot of money and headache in this wonderful hobby.
The most rewarding part of this hobby for me is to be able to breed marine fish. I breed the Banggai Cardinal which is a great fish to start with and this species is sadly also threatened in nature because of our hobby.
Happy reefing! |

Take it slow! Get on a good reef froum and read, learn, ask, and read some more. There will be up's and down's in this hobby, but it is worth it. Make sure you price check on your equipment. Usually the net is so much cheaper. |
