About Yourself: Used to breed koi when i was a kid
Advice: Start gradually. Dont over crowd Dont over feed Big tanks are easier to manage. Dont skimp on decor as it reduces aggression between species and reduces stress on scaredy fish coz they can hide up. Many plants are very sensitive to water chemistry, persevere to find the right type. And buy decent filters and heating systems
Fish Kept: Various south american cichlids (dempsey, texas, brasiliensis, a few firemouths, cons) Mbuna & Hemichromis variants Aequidens Bala sharks, black sharks, clown loach, other botia, ancistrus, pictus, synodontis, a dozen corys, danios and even a shoal of platies :) A mad mixture of fish, but there's plenty of room and tank is stable and peaceful except at feed time. Other (6ft) tank has guppies, platies, swordtails, corys, rams and a big ol' severum who's just celebrated his 8th birthday
Plants Kept: Cryptocorynes, swords, anubias, vallus, canadian pondweed, water lettuce, dwarf water lillies. For the bigger hericthys, fake plants are better although they don't like to eat java moss.
Tank Size: 400
Description: Primary tank: 9'x2.5'x2.5' 2xFluval FX5 filters 1x2500lph power head for home made under gravel jetting system 3x80w 4' light tubes (whoops, different K values, that's why the left side is whiter than the right, better fix that) 3x300w caged heaters Secondary tank: 6'x2.5'x2' 2xEheim 400litre filters 2xDaylight tubes 2xPlant gro tubes 2x300w fluval tronic heaters

About Yourself: I will be brutally honest, I never wanted fish. I am a Ball python breeder and a reptile man at heart. I would go into the pet store to get supplies and rodents and I would see how my kids were FASCINATED by the fish in the tanks. I would have never did a fish tank in my life if it wasnt for my 2 year old daughter looking into a fishtank and saying OOOOOOOOOO WWWWWWOW! I then decided to try something smaller like a 29 but then realizing my daughter can get behind it and tip it over, I went for the 55. Had I known my tank was gonna be this awesome (in MY eyes) I would have just bit the bullet and did a 125g. If this tank goes well I will convert the 55g to a saltwater and do an awesome 125 African cichlid display.
Advice: RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! Just when you think you have rinsed your BRAND NEW gravel enough, rinse it 10 more times, This stuff was DUSTY.
Fish Kept: Yellow labs, synodontis cats. Botia angelicus and albino BN plecos
Plants Kept: FAKE and 1 real Amazon sword
Tank Size: 125
Description: 125 AGA 3 emperor 400 filters DIY 125g aquarium stand made by me :-) Custom canopy with current retrofit 4x65w 50/50 lamps black sandlike substrate 8 nice pieces of slate rock 1 26 lb piece of texas holey rock 4 AWESOME pieces of Malaysian driftwood a few fake plants 1 400w aquarium heater 1 200w aquarium heater for extra heat when needed ESU reptile thermostat for my 400w heater (very accurate) Milli drop of blood, a poop load of sweat and so far "knock on wood" NO TEARS

About Yourself: 23 year old Dairy pastuerizer. Fishkeeping for bout 6 years. GO KNUDSEN!
Advice: Consider the source when asking questions. Don't get Red Devils unless you want a 1 fish tank.
Fish Kept: 3 Red-Tail Barracudas, 1 Pictus Catfish,1 Geophagus Jurupari . I sold my gold datnoid to a friend because he was bugging my cudas. Which I plan to build up to a nice school of six or so, in a bigger tank of course.
Plants Kept: None.
Tank Size: 55
Description: 55 gallon. Fake vine decoration. Few logs for hiding. Fake plants, the tall bushy one so the cudas can ambush the feeders(which they do very well). Whisper powerfilter 60 w/ biofoam. I ,somewhat alternate between a long 38 watt Helio flourescent and the pictus and my own fave, 2 MarineGlo 15 watt flourescent lights (doesn't show in pics but gives a nice subdued blue light). Bubble curtain in back of the tank. Large African Driftwood (attempting to hide air line). All the photos are taken on my iphone so quality isn't the best.

About Yourself: I am a 3D animator that has been an aquarist for about a year... I kept many terrariums in the past 2 years. I was into plants first and it led me from houseplants to keeping terrariums to creating aquariums and paludariums. I spend an average of 10 hours a week keeping up this tank. It is a great joy. Thank you for looking at it. It is an honor to have you view it.
Advice: Let you tank cycle... don't be a victim of new tank syndrome!
