Country: Phillippines
Description: 100-gallon freshwater planted community aquarium, 72" long x 18" tall x 18" wide. Light provided by two fluorescent tubes in a reflectorized and 24-h timer (14 hours on) controlled housing: one 40W pink tube and one 40W daylight tube. Filtration is provided by two sets of an undergravel filter connected to a 500 gal/h powerhead that brings the water to an overhead filter with filter wool, ceramic rings, and plastic chips/balls.
Advice: Do not trust 100% your local fish store employee unless he/she belongs to a reputable company or is a hobbyist him/herself. Read independently from aquarium books, or websites/forums online. Make sure what information you find on the Internet also comes from a reputable source and agrees with the basics of biology.
Fish Kept: Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens), Zebra danio (Danio rerio), Black skirt and golden tetras (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi), Chinese banded shark (Myxocyprinus asiaticus), Guppy (Poecilia reticulate), Golden rosy barb (Puntius conchonius), Tiger barb (Puntius tetrazona), Red swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii), Platy varieties (Xiphophorus maculates)
Corals/Plants: Alternanthera reineckii, Cabomba caroliniana, Ceratopteris thalictroides, Echinodorus amazonicus, Hydrocotyle sp., Hygrophila corymbosa var. Siamensis, Hygrophila difformis, Ludwigia sp., Myriophyllum spicatum, Nymphaea pubescens
Tank Size: 100 gallons
About Yourself: I've cared for aquaria since I was 14 years old (that makes it 11 years of experience now). Started out with a small 5-gallon planted tank with plecos; moved up to 10, 30, 50 gallons (goldfish), then to 100 gal saltwater (but the hot tropical climate here in Manila proved difficult to handle without a chiller). Recently converted that 100 gal saltwater into this present aquarium.
