Ok, i'm planning to get some live rock for my 29g, I know I need about 20-30IBS of rock, But what kind do you think is good for me?
I'm planning on having fish (da), an anemone, and a few fether dusters! Thats all!!
But i'm on a budget! under $150.
i personally like figi rock. Even if you get a few pounds of figi and some natural rock, the figi rock will spread to the natural rock fast (about 2 months)
Thats a yes and a no you need to put some live bacteria in the tank ( you can get that at any fish store its a cycle starter kit ).You are going to need some starter fish. Ask the fish store to give you some water Not RO water !!! The one from the tanks, that will give you some bacteria . But you need live rock it will clear the water in your tank to. Fiji rock is good it will grow stuff on it but i like branch rock. If you look at my pictures the one on the right is a fuji rock ( 22 lb 150$) In the midle Branch rock ( 18 lb
150$) on the left dead rock ( 10 lb 20$) and 30 lb live sand 90$. i think if you go 10 lb live sand 5 lb fiji and some dead rock it will be ok. you are looking aound 100$ .
Edub, I ordered this rock and I'm very pleased with it, i cycled it for 2 weeks and in the display it went.....my hermits have maintianed it beautifully
I have had very good luck with petsolutions and foster and smith {i have very bad LFS's in my area - completly destroyed my first tank wen i was first starting out, lidtening to them} this site saved my ass many times, lol
