Im raising a brood of Auratus fry, they are 1" long . I was wondering if anyone knew how big they have to be for the adult fish to recognize them as being auratus and not food. My breeding male is 4"
um... i usually let the african cichlid fry live amongts the colony... if you have nothing but auratus adults they should be fine... but i would put them in as soon as they outgrow the arents mouths... lol... other cichlids usually don't eat 1"-2" fish... unless they are starving or jerks...
I put a few in the main tank a month ago. Only one has lasted and hes found a nice cave he doesnt stray from. Ive seen one get eaten and everyfish wanted a piece of it. I think i'll wait till they are about 2 1/2 inches
