I intend to keep my common pleco as it grows as I have other fish that'll get even bigger, but I've heard that plecos will suck on other fish and hurt them.

Mine doesn't do this. Is this true?

Yes, this CAN be displayed by older Plecos but If your Plecos does not do this, it does not mean he will not later on.
