- - hey bud...i was rereading some of the old posts and came across your post on the hermit moveing from his shell problem ...i'm assumeing that he moved eventually as you told me the other day he was moving large pieces of liverock around for you, lol

my question to you is...... how often do they change shells? and how soon should i worry about putting some more shells in there for him or should there always be shells in the tank incase he wants to re decorate on a wim........

not too offten, its mostly the crabs choice. i put big shells in bout 9 months after i got him. i think bout 4 days later, he took the biggest one. when he first changed shells it was too big for him, but hes all good now.(he gained lots of muscle)if i were you id go and buy some shells. they are very picky, so when picking out shells, think, would i wanna live in this one if i where a crab?get the one with couches inside lol

smooth shells, rough shells, like a conch or fresh water looking things...ive got access to both types???

anything really. you should take the crab with so he can pick it out lmao. i know i have 3 dif types of shells in mine, not sure what the best is. grab a veriety, i guess.
