ok ok ok ok OK...................I definately want to use RO water in my tank from now on...I do not have 2-3 hundred bucks for an RO system though ............. with all the advice i'm getting from people who use it, i definatley want to come on board......so................ where is everyine buying their RO water from? my LFS has never heard of it {AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!} {I am in hell here} does a major store chain carry it anywhere? any help........................Boss
ok now dat that that question is brought up. so lets say i wanna start using ro water in an already established tank...how would i go about switcing fully to ro water or is dat gonna restart my cycle? :(
and this might be a dumb question. but...i went to walmart online to check for the water. and they dont show it online think theyll still have it at the store?
well actually i dont think ill be needing a ro unit or water now that i think of it. because when i do my water changes im using ocean water str8 from the ocean from my local petco. the water is wonferful and not that expensive. since i do 10 -20% water changes its perfect cuz its a 5g bag for like 10bucks. any input on this? good idea? bad idea? the water doesnt need salt added. its str8 from the ocean. sal lvls are same as i keep mines so. chu think guys?
only concern i would have wouldbe when you do top offs......when water evaporates of the tank the salt does not....so if your topping off with sea water you could be raiseing the salinity ..............possably dangerously . . . . . .if your useing tap water {especially city water} i would look into RO water for that for sure . . .but as far as useing sea water goes.........UM........ we are trying to recreate the sea in our tanks,,,,,,,,no? lol if it's working stay with it man, Boss
yea das the onlyyyy reason i mighttt need a ro cuz when i do the top off i use tap water..after i condition it ofcourse. but everyone braggin about the ro. so i dont know :( it would sucks to buy a ro just for freaking top offs :(
yeah i hear that.........................thats why i made this post, I can't believe everybody has their own water plant in the basement, lol they gotta be buying it somewhere......i think im going to call culligan next week and see if thet have it ...might be able to have those 5 gallon water cooler bottles delivered right to the house ...who knows
look in the water section and they will have 1 gallon jugs of their "Value" brand there - -blue label and green label "sodium free" the blue is filtered with UV and micron filters and the green label is filtered by RO - - 66 cents a gallon - -hope this stuff works, doing a water change tomorrow ....good luck to us all, Snowboss
