Here are the links to some new pictures of our tank. Pictures of our old setup are still in my profile. Let us know what you think. I am open to any suggestions.

Hey very nice setup. Looks like you could use a little more substrate in the middle there. What kind of moss is that on your driftwood, java moss? I like it

Yeah, that is Java Moss. I went to petco and they are selling it as Moss Balls. It is actually Java Moss wrapped around a styrofoam ball. I see what you are talking about regarding the middle of the tank. The picture is a little deceiving. There is actually more there than appears. The substrate is blending in with the outline of the picture.

Oh yeah, the white spot in front of the rock cave is actually a mesh holder where I put some more Java Moss. The goal is for it to grow through the mesh and create a little carpeted area. I hope it works as I think it would look awesom. It it peeking through already.

Very nice, I really want to get some java moss for my driftwood. Is it pretty cheap. I'm thinkin my pleco will love it.

Heh that sounds just like something petco/smart would do...as java moss is easily regrown, readily available.. they'd market it as something else a new hobbyist may be fooled by. Generally in the hobby ''Moss Balls'' refer to ''Marimo Balls'' which is actually an algae that grows in the form of a hollow ball in the lakes of Japan. I know this because I have one, and am still trying to come up with a name for it...was thinking along the lines of fred. lol Yeah, but anyway.
I was just curious, do your various groups of tetras in 2's school together?
P.S. tank looks great.

Yeah I've heard of moss balls. Don't they take like 10 years to develop?

I think its something like 1mm per year, I don't recall the specifics, but it does take a long time. They are considered endangered in Japan, so of course they are harvested for commercial sale, and yes, I supported it. Did my reading up after purchase. -.-

Yeah, my Tetras do school. We had 5 Neons, but lost a few over time. I am probably going to get a few more again as they look great in a larger group. The Red Eyes are inseparable. They are kind of comical.

Ah I had some glolites and neons (2 and 2) and they never seemed to associate or school. I guess the magic # is 5. They've since migrated into a friends' tank and I now have 6 rummynose which I like better than either variety, they look great schooling. :)

Nice pics Tmercier83. I'd like to see when the java moss grows through. I have a whole mini stump, about 10 inches by 10 inches, totally covered with Java moss and the pleco and tilapia keep it nibbled down pretty short like a mowed lawn.
