yes thanks as well Peter, ugh now i can concentrate on my fish... im actually about to take another water test after doing a nice good water change of about 40%. I wanna see if my ph will remain steady after my ammonia stays at zero.
Good luck. It should be pretty easy to keep it stable with all you learned in this process! I'm sitting next to my 35 gallon long that has 2.5 bags of plant growing medium and a gorgeous stump of some heavy dark wood ready to go in. I'm almost ready to get it started and I think I'll probably skip the idea of the UGF. I've got 100's of baby mosquito fish and tilapia ready too.
I read that water changes do not remove bacteria very much at all. Most of the beneficial bacteria are attached to surfaces, so it's ok to do frequent water changes without fearing it will mess up the cycle.
