i am replacing my T5 actinics from 460nm blue to the 420nm purple look, and while i was looking it said daylight bulbs were avalible in 6,7000k and 10,000k. I already have the 10ks i was just wondering what the difference was between the two.

10k is more blue in spectrum.the 65k is more white.also by changing light spectrum all at once you may kill coraline. they are sensitve to light changes..lower your light timers for a week or so.and change one bulb a week...65k and true actinic blue lights have a high par rating together . they will grow corals very fast.but u may not like the color. hope this helps

I think 6500Ks or 6700Ks are more yellowish then 10000Ks. 65Ks mostly used on freswater setups, because they plants, fishes etc.. do not require as much of blue and white spectrums as saltwater species. 10K is a beautiful tune of colors, in my op. I have a power compact 65/10 K combined, mixed with 420/460 actinic. Without the actinics on the 65/10K not as nice as the 10K would be by itself. But combined with the actinics give a great spectrum for me and for my livestock. I think you should have stay with the 10K, I wouldn't bother mess with the 67Ks. 10Ks also more "official" for anykind of saltwater creature. 420nm actinics will certainly more purple then 460s. Be lucky!
