Howdy thanks for stopping by my forum!
I have a tank approximately 30-40 gallon tank to build. Where i'm at now is thinking i wanna do an electric blue jack demp. but not sure yet. from what ive researched i think they get about 8 inches not sure... What are some good tank mates for a jack dempsey? bigger cichlids? and what do people use for inner tank glass cleanliness? will a jack dempsey kill a bigger pleco if the pleco has a lot of cover?
also, sand or gravel for cichlids?

Hello. A nice tank mate for a Jack Dempsey is a Green or Red Terror. My personal favorite is a Jaguar (Parachromis managuense), but your tank is too small. If you get a 6-8" pleco, you should be fine with algae. My personal favorite is sand, btw.

yeah, any american cichilid would do fine but like Dogg said your tank is to small to have a jack & others. The Jack is pretty peacefull and with any other cichilid IF kept in a large tank (150 gallons). I dont know about a pleco, It would do fine if you had a bigger tank but I think It would get to much of a beaten if in a 30-40 tank. I would start a big comm. with tetras, cories, mollies, gouramis, etc. YOu could have one pretty tank.

well, as most tankers know, jacks grow slow, from what ive heard at least. my plan is to start 1 or 2 of the electric blues in this tank. then down the road, move em into a bigger tank. I have no idea what i want to do right now honestly. i had a comm tank before, but want something new
