I've talked about tilapia before, but it's been a while.
Tilapia are a common food fish and can be found in many waters in the west USA.
I found out about them when I was netting small schools of fish to feed to my gars. I ended up letting some get to breeding size and I was really impressed at their breeding behavior and tamability.
They actually look and breed similarly to cichlids. The mating pair will dig a hole in the gravel and do a bunch of courting dances. Then the female will take the eggs in her mouth and hold them there till they hatch, and .........can't type more, To B con't.
