I want to learn and am wondering if these are good ones for beginners. I have small hands and chubby fingers, which is probably the worst combo lol. I am figuring out that it is very hard for me to do some notes or chords or whatever. Anyways, heres the two guitars, they are both Ibanez acoustic-electric guitars. Tell me what you think.

J, I make guitar noise, lol

I used to play bluegrass with my Ex wifes family all the time, and have been around some pretty high end flat tops - - - Ibanez makes a really great electric quitar i have never heard one of their acoustics, i play a fender DG-11 acoustic and an Ovation Legend, my father plays Martins - -

I have a theory for beginning players - - if your serious about playing i would get a decent rig, for two reasons 1. if you get a crappy guitar it will sound bad and you get descouraged and don't continue 2. if you spend a good chunk of change, you won't be as apt to just put it down and "waste" that money by not playing

That being said, I think the best all around quality entry level guitars out there are made by either Ovation {they have that round back though, i like em, but a lot of people don't} and Alverez

Now martin, takamini and washburn will be your best bluegrass rigs

but..................

good luck man - - -you'll love playing

what do you think about this one? 18 people rated it a 10 out of 10. I liked the style of it and I was watching CMT awards and Dwight Yoakam has this same type but his is the nicer gibson version thats about $2500 more.

However, I did play this one at my local store and it sounded amazing.http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBAPF5ECE

your talking about a Gibson Hummingbird..............and they don't compare at all, when you get into high end Martins and Alverez Yari's and the Hummingbird - - -it's like a Porsche and a pinto, only thing they have in common is they are guitars

But I digress,

Epiphone is a decent entry level box, I personally don't care for the action on most of them, but that is PURELY preference

her's my pick for a very mellow, all around, sounding guitar - - -this will play anytype of music you want and is a very good quality company

http://www.zzounds.com/item--TAY110E

i should ask what type of music you plan on predominantly playing, because different guitars have different charectoristics, I.E. Martins and Washburns are gonna sound tinny, and harsh, unless you beat the crap out of them, Great pick guitars, for fingar work you want the Taylor, Alverez, Epiphone, Ovations or Tacamini - - concert drednoughts are going to be loud as hell and mellow, thin lines are going to be sharper and quiet {thats why most have pick-ups in them} but are great for sitting on the front steps and not pissing the neighbors off, lol

etc etc etc

thats cool.............the epiphone you posted should be a good rig for a while .................guitars are like fishtanks, you start small and if you stick with it you'll be looking at 3,000 dollar rigs in 6 months, lol

ovation makes some amazing sounding entry level acoustics... you should check them out at a guitar center or a music store... srsly...

also fender acoustics are pretty FTW... but thier necks are really thin and your fat useless fingers might make it FTL!...

i'm strictly a bass player... i don't know how to do much on a normal guitar... but i have been looking into an acoustic... i might go the ovation route... i have a friend with a couple of martins... those are loud and well worth the cash... but i wouldn't want one for a beginner player...

i'm also thinking about starting up another band... my last one was uber fail... but now i want to start up another one that is more musicly inclined... oh well...

good luck, and let us know what you get...

Gumbii,

man i lost a matched set "Kustom" 5 string fretless bass and amp in my last divorce....it was so hot, big huge metal flake in a red boby and that totally 70's red sparkle tuck and roll on the amp ...............damn thing was a real amp too...........all tubes

took 10 minutes for it to warm up but man what a sound...............i'm not a bass player but it was cool to play around with

coolest thing was those guitars and amps were made right in the town i lived in out in Kansas ... Kustom signals, Chanute KS..................they're still in business but don't makw instroments anymore, they manufacture lights and stuff for airport runways and police/fire equipment

alas just one more thing thrown on the fail/aids pile of Boss's past burn pile....................lol

I just keep thinking about how that Ibanez PF sounded. It was amazing compared to the others in the same range. I will probably end up with that one it was just a good experience with it.
