Anyone have tips on photographing constantly moving, fast fish? I see articles that are the basics of photography plus a few tips for using flash, photographing through glass/water/acrylic, etc., but not much about the special tribulations of catching the ones moving at the speed of light. They don't even show up as a blur.
In short Zambize. to catch fast fish you need a fast shutter.... and a fast shutter speed requires lots of light pointing at the subject. Read the thread, it will help a bit :)
Yes, I have seen the work of Sponge-meister...and have commented on his work. Awesome stuff, but I was speaking about photos for mere mortals. LOL Seriously though, I was hoping for something between my throwing the camera at the tank and needing to understand the *manual* settings of my camera. Besides, my camera is old and I know (deep down) that decent photos will likely require a camera upgrade and there goes more $$$ on my fish!! I'm gonna get kicked out of the house. I can see it now, me and my fish, in the driveway, looking for an outdoor power outlet.
I took some advice and fiddled with the settings on my camera and got some pics of one of my more timid fish. They are awaiting approval still, but I love them! =)
zamize, give me the make and model of your camera... ill look it up and let u know how to set the settings. You don't need a great camera to get good shots... just some patience and a little knowledge of what your camera is doing. And yes, depending on your camera, you might not always be able to pull of the exact shot u want... your camera has limitations if no outiside light source is added.. or if your camera is not able to be manually adjusted at all.
i usually put the camera on macro mode and hold the camera at an angle... then photoshop the picture so the fish is in the middle... lol... adjust colors, levels, effects and stuff...
or sometimes, i take the fish out and lay it on a napkin... HAHAHAl;dfkjsadljfadfj;ksadljf...
i heard that gumbii throws the fish into the air and takes a macro shot wile in flight... then he puts the fish in the album and the picture into the tank...
